The water supply department which is under the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board would be transferred to L&T which has won the contract for supply of water for the next 15 years.
The 24/7 drinking water project which was executed in 10 wards only will now be spread all over the city and will supply 85000 homes water 24/7.
currently the paper work of transferring the assets, man power is in progress and on March 15 the water supply would be handed over to L&T.
For the past 6-8 months the L&T team has been surveying and has completed the same and actual work would commence in April 2021.
L&T has wont the contract for ‘Design, Build, Operate, Maintain and Transfer of water supply systems in Belagavi. The projects are largely funded by the World Bank.
The projects aim to deliver continuous pressurized water supply (24X7) to consumers and achieve target NRW (Non-Revenue Water) by reducing losses through the development of suitable water infrastructure and utility improvements.
The 24/7 Drinking Water Project was granted to Belagavi several years ago but had been canceled for various reasons.
