Well, to be honest, these flight timings don’t make any sense to me. An average working person from Belagavi, working in Bengaluru, would prefer to come back to Belagavi either on Friday night or Saturday early morning. He would like to go back to Bengaluru on Sunday night or Monday early morning. Accordingly, the airliner should set the timings. I am not sure how people will travel on aforementioned odd timings.
To add to this, there is a National highway on Bengaluru – Belagavi route. People may not opt for Air travel if there is no convenience for a weekend travel. The bus rote and railway routes will serve better in this case. If a person hops on Friday evening, Saturday early morning he or she will be in Belagavi. The bus and train services are cheaper on this route as well. So why anybody would like to fly on Saturday afternoon and reach Belagavi on almost evening ? Also, people go back to Bengaluru on Sunday evening so that they can be at work on Monday morning. Why anybody would like to travel on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon to Bengaluru ? If the airliner wants to make money, they need to pay attention to people’s requirements.
One more point is Belagavi Hyderabad route. This route is one of the worst routes to travel by Roads. State highways have laid down so many speed breakers that it’s very difficult to travel and takes more than 12 hours for a mere 550 KMs ride. A private sleeper bus costs around 1500 rupees minimum. The government sleeper bus is cheaper (Minimum 1100 Rupees) but comes and reaches Belagavi at morning 10 AM. Train service from Hyderabad is the worst. It comes and reaches Belagavi at evening 5.30 PM. If Airliners can start a cheap service here for a weekend travel, there is a very good possibility of making money on this route.
I think Airlines starting the services to Belagavi should rethink about the routes and more specifically the timings according to the conveniences of the people, if they are really interested in business. If not, it is going to be the same old story of starting the service and closing it in the next 6 months.
