There will be no relaxation in lockdown in the state of Karnataka till May 3. The Karnataka state cabinet has decided to not give any relaxation in the wake of the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Belagavi district has 42 COVID-19 positives with one death and one discharge.
The Karnataka Cabinet on Monday decided to continue the present lockdown till May 3 without any relaxation to industries or services located in rural and urban areas.
With this announcement, it is clear that all types of industries and services would be remained closed until May 3. However, relaxations will be granted only to agriculture and horticulture-related activities and agricultural marketing.
Also, the Cabinet decided to promulgate an ordinance to control the spread of the disease, to provide security to police and frontline health workers. It is also aimed at punishing those indulging in spreading fake news and those who do not cooperate with the government in containing the pandemic.
The cabinet deliberated on whether the manufacturing sector and industries can be given any relaxation like in rural areas or urban areas. But since everything is linked like a chain- raw materials, transport, food etc in the interest of the state the lockdown would continue until May 3 strictly.
