P126 a 70-year-old from Belagundi was discharged a couple of days ago from the BIMS hospital after his second test was also negative for COVID-19.
As per the report of the Times of India, a combination of three drugs in the right proportion was administered for five consecutive days since the day patient showed symptoms. BIMS director Vinay Dastikop talking to ToI said anti-viral, immunomodulatory and anti-bacterial drugs were given to the patient. A combination of three drugs help cure a 70-year-old COVID patient in Belagavi. The treatment was done as per the guidelines of the World Health Organisation.
Oseltamivir, Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin were administered the first is anti-viral while second and third are immunomodulators and anti-bacterial respectively”. However, none of the drugs was proved clinically as a cure for Covid19.
For this particular patient, 400 mg of Hydroxychloroquine was given twice (morning and evening) on day first and once a day for the next four days. The drug with anti-viral characteristics Oseltamivir was administered 75 mg two times a day for five days, while 500 mg of azithromycin once a day for all five days.
